Any other films similar to this one?

I personally really like great atmospheric films like this one. Are there any other good ones that anyone can suggest to me?

Yes, try "Institute Benjamenta" directed by the Brothers Quay. Clearly, the film was highly influenced by Fall of the House of Usher.

I too don't know exactly what being atmospheric means. I saw the term applied very liberally to all kinds of movies, even to an awful garbage like 'Silent hill' (sorry I even mention it here).

Anyway, as expressionist examples and all things very twisted and gothic, here are some early examples to mention:
'Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari';
F.W. Murnau movies, perhaps 'Schloß Vogeloed' as one of the earlier examples , followed by 'Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens', Faust, etc.
Wegener's Golem (1920 version).

Cheers

Aside from the already mentioned brilliant "Vampyr" (Dreyer, 1932) the other essential film that comes to mind in this regard is "The Phantom Carriage" (Sjöström, 1921). Both great atmospheric horror pictures of the early days of film which are great alternatives to the typical Universal monster flics.
