So much for the other women left on the ship!

The film ends with a romantic, happy ending, as our beloved couple escape the chaos on the ship and are in sight of land-- the New World and a new life. But they (we) have left dozens of women back on the ship to be raped ad infinitum. I'm not saying that the main couple could have done anything to help, but the viewer's attention is clearly expected to shift entirely with total amnesia. So much for the depth of the film's Mary Magdelene motif ...

I am just pointing out this one surprising detail. I enjoyed the film on the whole!

Yes, Fabien and Manon should have rushed back into the chaos and tried--just one dude and one chick, unarmed--to save all of the other women. It wouldn't have done anybody any good, and they would have been killed quickly. However, it would have virtue-signaled how woke they were about the oppression of women, so it would have been worth it. But they escaped instead, selfishly benefiting from their unfair privilege.
