I'm always looking for Ramon Novarro films to be released on dvd. Has anybody Heard if this is happening?
sharea few years ago my film prof said he was still waiting for this to be released on DVD (one of his favorites not be), but I was fortunate enough to see it on VHS. Here's hopin' this classic makes it to the newish media.

Several old Navarro films have been released on dvd by Warner Archives, yet no "Student Prince" as of Feb. 2012. What is the holdup? Is it the condition of the film, a rights issue? Though really, this movie is too good for Warner Archives, it should be a full-scale Criterion Collection dvd!
shareI'm guessing there is most likely a copyright issue regarding the beautiful 1980s restoration that includes the wonderful I believe Carl Davis orchestral score, and that that's probably been the holdup to that exceptional version being released on DVD. (Another restoration from the same period, also with great new probably C. Davis orchestral score, is Valentino's "The Eagle," that likewise continues to elude DVD release, but that it's well known the gorgeous restoration exists of.) Whatever the reason, it certainly is long overdue that this wonderful movie become available on DVD ASAP!
