About halfway through the film, in the background of the street scene you can see dozens of oil well derricks on the bluffs- from back in the 20s when the oil boom was on in Los Angeles.

Google vintage photos of PCH going through Huntington Beach in the 1920s or 1930s and you will be amazed!
