Greta Garbo is at her best

in this Hollywood version of Anna Karenina ( with a happy ending ). Her beauty and talent at age 22 is still breathtaking.

ahhhh. I'm the only one who wants to talk to you....
just kidding I don't even want to talk to you.
This is scavenger hunt topic number 2.
to find the third post you definatly need to think "outside the box"

I'm not a vindictive person... I just want you to die in a blazing inferno of steel and gasoline.

I've only seen it twice, about 25 years ago but I have to agree with you. The movie left an indelible impression on my memory.

I wish Love would be released on DVD. I can't understand why TCM didn't include Love and A Woman of Affairs in the Signature collection.

reply

I agree, Love and A Woman of Affairs must be put on to DVD! It is TCM's duty to keep the names of the silent stars from dying out, especially John Gilbert, who has suffered enough already! There is nothing wrong with his voice and these films are silent so! TCM Put LOVE and A WOMAN OF AFFAIRS on DVD!!!

I have yet to see either but from what I have learned about both of them, I know I want to see them both! I ever have dreams about scenes in LOVE that I know cannot be in the film! Garbo was the most beauiful actress on the MGM lot in her day and must be remembered, forever!

Suggestion: Garbo Silents Collection Two: LOVE, A WOMAN OF ARRAIRS, and THE KISS, after all it's Garbo's shorest film, it could be a bonus feature, while we're talking about this, why a Garbo/Gilbert Collection? I know QUEEN CHRISTINA and FLESH AND THE DEVIL are already on DVD, but it couldn't hurt.

Have you gone to TCM's website and added your name to people wanting to see "Love" or other Garbo or Gilbert films on DVD? Some films that aren't on DVD have very few votes and could use more. Only 200 people have voted for this to be on DVD and it's in something like 350th place.

reply

Oh, yes I have added my name to the list. Ditto for A Woman of Affairs. I'm not sure that I have for The Kiss so I will check on that matter.

I agree with philiplama that a Garbo and Gilbert collection would be a wonderful addition to the DVD catalog.
