It's not really found 'Yet', but it's known to exist, Sid says if it is any place now then it's at the U.C.L.A. Film Archives. Hopefully someone there will hear this news and look and see if they got it when it was moved from those film vaults that Sid says he held the film reels back in 1989.

Please, please don't let this be yet another hoax! I read the article on Sid Terror's site, and I only hope this is true. Nitrate won't wait--let's not keep this one in the can too long!

reply

i really want to see this, i've hear about it for years.
keep crossing those fingers!!

Get away from her you BITCH!

Why hasn't anyone made it their mission to dig through the UCLA archives? This is the holy grail of lost film. It would be a serious team effort but it must be done before time takes it's toll on that nitrate.

reply

Right. One of the most sought after lost films, and its discoverer posts his story on freakin' thehorrordrunx.yuku.com.

As "discovery", I might add, that happened 20 years ago (according to the author).

It was a hoax. A really stupid hoax.

Why do people say Sid Terror's story was a hoax? If you read the whole article, it's very credible. He doesn't claim to have the print of the film. He doesn't even claim to have seen it projected. He worked for a film delivery company, and had access to huge vaults. He came across a print that was marked with an alternate title. He inspected the reels, found it was the real deal, then lost the job.

I too have worked around a lot of film in my lifetime, from being a projectionist, film student and amateur lost film hunter. I've never found anything earth shattering, but it's fun. Sid's story sounds totally credible, and I think he only wants to put people back on the right track of finding the film.

reply

Sorry, but it's anything BUT credible if you really know anything about film vaults, film preservation, or simple human behavior. It's a bllshtt tale made up of bits and pieces of his life, pre-existing information on the film, and fantasy.

It was a nice try, and I hope you're right, that he wants to inspire someone to look for it. But making up a wacky shaggy dog story was not the way to go about it.

reply

Ted, you are right. I just recently read Sid's Horror Drunx post and got caught up in the possibilities. I still don't know why somebody would lie about something like that, other than for 15 minutes of fame on the Interweb. Guess it's the sad truth in this case.

I read some more and thought about it. There are just too many holes in the story. Plus MGM has been searching worldwide, including under alternate title, since the '70s.

Even back in '89, there was a strong desire to find it, so if he did find it back then, Sid would have surely let somebody else know.

reply

What gets me is what he was actually expecting to get out of this? Even if the story was true London After Midnight is still lost and people think he's even crazier than if he had flat out lied about it. I guess I respect Sid's intentions but I think telling a story that doesn't lead anywhere won't inspire people.

reply

'Finding London After Midnight' hoaxes make up a time-honored Hollywood fandom tradition. Sid's just carrying on that tradition.

London After Midnight is the Holy Grail of lost films. Sid will not be the last hoaxter to tell us the film has been found.

Let's hope someday a copy somewhere will be found by someone willing to share it with the world. A shame great movies like this weren't taken better care of for future generations.

this was quite a few yrs ago hasn't anyone gone and got it yet, if its found we would know by now, it was used on a detective show here in the uk called white chapel, and some guy had the missing film and watches it before going crazy (apparently the film is cursed in real life) which is as about true as the film being found i think, but you never know do you maybe one day they will find it or bits of it here and there, and piece together the whole film, censors in the usa varied from state to state town to town the film was bound to be chopped up here and there mabe in the vaults of a few picture houses edited versions exist who knows
