Old ship
The old, wrecked ship which is the scene for much of the last quarter of the movie seems very real. Is it?
If so, what is (was) the site of the wreck?

It was bought by the studio for the film, and was located off Catalina Island.
shareWhen I was a kid in the 1950s and 1960s, beached and abandoned sailing vessels were fairly commonly seen along the west coast. There was one in Anacortes, Washington, and another in Martinez, California, both towns in which I lived. I never ventured to board either, though the temptation was there.
shareIn addition, there was a fleet of old ships used in various films of that era. The ship in Kid Brother was either the Llewellyn J. Morse or the Palmyra--both of them built in the previous century. The sequence was indeed filmed at Catalina where the Palmyra was later burned and sunk.
