Plot Hole [Spoiler]

Many people in show business both in front of and behind the scenes are Jewish. A Broadway producer, no matter what his/her religion may be, would have known not to open a show on the night of Yom Kippur.

withbthis logic every theatre on broadway must be closed on friday night and saturday afternoon and evening,
but i doubt that it is that way.

though there are a lot of jewish people in showbusiness, more than in other fields
i am certain they are still a minority
and of this minority are the most liberal and not orthodox,
so its even a more tinier minority of actors and so on...
really think, i am afraid theatres couldnt not think about jewish celebration days in the western christian world.

but what i didnt understand... he could have asked to make his test singings before all the others
and there would have been enough time to get home.
even after he have sung he could jump on a cab and get home.
he must have come just some minutes after his mother,
so it wasnt really a matter of time
but of courage and fear to get thrown out a 3rd time.

showbusiness wasnt really a problem
(in this case)

That is NOT what I meant. While I can not speak for all Jews, I can tell you that all the Jews I know observe Yom Kippur. As a matter of fact, here in New York, all the public schools are closed that day for its observance. So I still stand by what I've said.
