Positively surprised by radio play

I watched this movie a couple of years ago and to be honest I wasn't particularly impressed.
Sure it is a significant piece of cinematic history but the actual movie was rather dull I thought.

I have just finished listening to the radio play done by the Lux Radio Theatre. This play was recorded sometime in the 1940s I believe and it was also starring Al Jolson.
I was (almost) blown away! It was much much better than the movie, certainly the best Lux radio play I have heard, I highly encourage everyone to give it a listen.

An interesting side bit is that Cantor and Mrs. Rabinowitz in this radio play are played by Ludwig Donath and Tamara Shayne who played Jolson's parents in the film "The Jolson Story".
