TCM will air the rare Raoul Walsh film What Price Glory this weekend.

I saw this version of this movie for the first time on 11/20. Enjoyed it greatly. But can anybody explain to me the sergeant's chevron's on 1st Sgt Quirt's sleeve? I've never seen one like this.

misterbee-1; Are you referring to his 'service strips'? Each would denote four (4) years of service and would be below his Chevron's.

Thought this film superior to THE BIG PARADE and was particularly impressed by the two (2) battle scenes. The second night battle was most impressive showing that FOX's SFX department was the best in the business. Easily combining full sized sets with miniatures and pyrotechnics. The 'trench collapse' was a terrifying occurrence in the then 'GREAT WAR' and don't recall it featured in any other film.
