About Garbo's first silents ... ?

This one, along with 2 others in the same DVD box, and The Single Standard, well they are just horrible : The scenario of the 3 (The Temptress / Flesh and the Devil / The Mysterious Lady) is really basic commercial melodrama but so bad, so blatant build around stars, tailored by the will of making money. - Not every director is G.W. Pabst or Fritz Lang ! She is great in The Joyless Street and Grand Hotel (Edmund Goulding), for sure !

Do you really believe Clarence Brown can hold any comparison to Pabst ? No he can't he is on of the worst Hollywood director ever, along with Fred Niblo. The fame of theses directors is zero, world wide. Pabst fame is immense and deserved.

So yes for a students researching about Hollywood's early endeavor to make money it's a subject of interest.
