i have recently gotten into silentfilms
and i have to say the part when faust first summons mephistois the eeeriest parts i have ever seen in a film i wish he didnt get so laughable throughout the rest of the film
astounding film overall though
I certainly agree on the summons. Really, though, the only time Jannings goes for humor is with Aunt Marthe & the love potion. Outside of that, he was pretty creepy the entire time, I thought.

Emil Janning is unrecognizable in the silent.He plays the evil Mephisto to the hilt with some humor.Some of the movie is hard to watch and is creepy.
