Beautiful ending

I love German expressionist cinema, and this was my latest watch: What a fantastic film! I just wanted to say the ending was particularly affecting. Watching Gretchen's suffering and the redemption of her and Faust through love was a very moving experience, and I'm amazed that it was Camilla Horn's first leaving role. Her performance was easily the most measured and intelligent in the film, and her response upon recognising Faust despite his age (hysterical laughter) was perfectly played.

I agree the ending made up for some of the previous grim scenes.Great imagery, and special effects for the time.Faust looked like a fairytale prince to me,even had mascara and eyeshadow.I was sorry to hear about Swedish actor Gosta's early death, due to cocaine addiction, that he acquired while filming Faust.
