Definitely a classic

This movie definitely deserves to be a classic. It's visually stunning even by today's standards, the costumes are great, the lighting is top notch, and the special effects and camera work are better than most movies done in the 80s and 90s. On top of that, it is still the classic story of good versus evil and the musical score adds an element of tension to the film, and follows the plot arc perfectly. I don't always agree with what some consider to be "classic" but this film deserves that title. The amount of work that went into this movie is breathtaking, and had the Oscars been around, it certainly would have won for best costume design, if not best picture. Really glad that this film was preserved. Murnau was a genius. Too bad his life was cut so short.
