Suspension of disbelief - spoilers

So there is no brother. He just pretends to be The Bishop. Fine. But how does The Bishop get such a fine reputation? Has The Blackbird done wonderful things in his guise of The Bishop? No one finds it odd that the two brothers are never seen together? Or that The Bishop is barely ever seen. The whole thing is way too implausible to even comprehend (and this doesn't even take into account the incredibly convenient twist at the end).

Right. I adore both Chaney and Browning, but this one left me completely cold. The duplicity didn't make any sense, and I didn't care about any of the characters.

It seemed like it was a quickie, and just churned out by MGM in a few weeks.

To a new world of gods and monsters!

Very true, it's certainly a lesser Chaney/Browning film, and pales massively in comparison to The Unholy Three, The Unknown, West of Zanzibar, and Where East is East. Heck, even their earlier collaborations The Wicked Darling and Outside The Law are a lot better in comparison. This o e is just a bit of a mess, though Chaney as always gives a great performance
