I dislike Fred Niblo

... since the awful job he did (with Clarence Brown) on Garbo's carrier. I won't develop the subject, but mind that this (Ben-Hur) was a flop :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben-Hur_%281925_film%29#Reception

-> It recorded an overall loss of $698,000.

But finally :

-> it had an overall profit of $81,000

Meaning, it is dull.

I will never watch a movie from this director again, as for Cecil B. DeMille since he directed 2 times exactly the same script just changing the main actress. Sincerely, F. Niblo isn't Pabst, nor Stroheim, Griffith or even Murnau. He is nobody ! He was just good enough to fulfill producer's wishes, regardless the assistance he got here. Overrated, im' 100% positive.

See the Temptress (1926), just unbelievable bad.

Too bad. I like BEN-HUR: A TALE OF THE CHRIST.
True, the film wasn't a super-success (the budget and copyright royalties played a part), but MGM benefited greatly from the prestige.
