filiming locations

Part of this film was shot in Monument Valley, Arizona. If you would like to see some stills showing scenes shot in Monument Valley, I have posted some at http://home.earthlink.net/~stcraft/monumentvalley stills.

I have not done this for the purpose of making money. I just think people who come to visit Monument Valley should be able to have a good time and have access to some stills while they're there. It makes the visit a lot of fun.

I had the opportunity to see some of the bison brought to the island for this movie in 1924. There were originally 14 of them, but the herd is now maintained at 150. The excess are relocated to Montana.

One bison decided to plop himself down on the volleyball court of the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center one day. This gave our class a chance to photograph him at relatively close range. He seemed quite acclimated to our presence.

Yet it is John Ford who is credited with finding this location and first using it in films, 14 years after this film was made. How wrong history can sometimes be.

"The answers to all of life's riddles can be found in the movies."
