1. why is he still running away, although the women aren't following him anymore?
or is that part of his character, being so "panicked" about that female crowd?

2. it wasn't clear (to me) if they married "in time" or if it was too late, after all? (those 2 guys looking at the clock, when it was shortly before Seven o clock, etc.)

Answer to Question one: Once the women had stopped following him, he wasn't still running from them. He was running towards Mary's house in order to marry her before 7pm.

Answer to Question two: Yes they did marry in time, as soon as the Priest had blessed their marriage the camera cut to the church bells ringing which indicates that they married just in time.
