A classic!!!!

I cannot believe that no body has posted anything about this Buster classic!

I have only just discovered the comic legend that is Buster Keaton and I can honestly say this film is by far one of the best comedies I have seen.

The love story is simple yet sweet and as for the chase sequence....it had be in stitches!!! After seeing this film i rushed out to get my hands on any Keaton gold that I could, and I am now a huge fan!

Since I am only 17 years old all my friends think I a bit crazy, but hey!

I must admit that my interest in Keaton was inspired by the film 'Benny and Joon', where Johnny Depps character was a fan of Buster and performed a scene in his style. So thanks Mr Depp!

I know, I have to admit Benny & Joon is what got me into Buster Keaton also.

To the OP:

I couldn't agree more. This is a seminal work by Keaton and it's just too bad he so vigorously hated it. I guess for him it would be like watching a home movie where everyone seems to be smiling and happy but before the camera was turned on they were screaming at each other. Actors and directors bring loads of baggage to their own film interpretations.

On that note, I have to say it is one of Keaton's very best. It is just so L-O-L funny! I sit with a mixed drink and roar with laughter every so often with this one - it's just impossible not to!

I LOVED this and am so happy Buster came around and learned to appreciate it.

I'm also VERY happy that Buster lived to see he and his work given the adulation, love and respect it always deserved!

Plus it's neat seeing how many teens are even getting into Buster's films and their surprise at seeing just how great silent films could be; especially in the expert hands of Buster Keaton!

Honestly this is my least favorite Keaton film (6/10), mostly dull and nothing that memorable besides the chase scene and even that didn't demonstrate his athletic abilities too much. Give me Sherlock Jr. or The General any day of the week.

Everyone has an opinion but wow, just WOW, your post has me trying to figure out how "dull" and "nothing that memorable" can even be applied to this film. We watched the General just prior to this and while funny in many places it came nowhere close to the gut busting laughs this movie caused my wife and I.

This is a great silent that's never brought up in conversation.
