Any means of getting a copy digitally/seeing it on tv?

Does anyone here know if there's a digital version of this movie available or if it'll be shown on tv any time soon?

reply

Anybody?

reply

If you subscribe to TCM it's on tomorrow (21/05) at 07:10 and again on 9th June at 05:00

reply

I can't believe I missed it!!

reply

damn! I did too, and right during my free preview of TCM! Do you know when the next showing is?

reply

TCM is good at showing it once in a while so just keep an eye out for it. I will also and post it on this web site when it is announced so refer to this web site fairly often. I don't think it is scheduled in July and August but keep coming here. You will get a second chance.

reply

Awesome! ^^ I'll try to record it with my DVD-RW and upload it to bit torrent so a digital version of the restored film can be available to the public...unless, of course, the illegality becomes a problem.

reply

Just post it. We fans can watch the complete version, only if someone posts it on the torrent. and by now no one has uploaded the complete version. But, keep in mind: if the legal dvd version appears in the meantime, and u have uploaded it u should erase it. We should support the dvd relelase by buying it. If the people are not buying, that would ruin the guys at WB who tried to make a good dvd edition of this great film. They would work for nothing.

reply

True. So I guess we'll keep our fingers crossed for the next tv airing. :3

Valentino has a copy. He's in the process of
getting it authenticated now.

Valentino is Loren Estleman's fictional "Movie
Detective" and found the copy in an old time
Movie Theatre he just purchased in downtown
L.A.

The book is "Frames" and it's fascinating.

LOL, thanks for sharing.

reply

Cool. When do you think he could upload it?

reply

Paul, read the whole message. He was talking about a fictional character. ^^;

reply

Oh, damn. Oh well

reply

*patsonpaul'sback* it's ok Paul. There's always tivo.

reply

Acctually speaking of Friends finding a digital copy, my mate Phil, has just found a copy of the long version on Rapidshare!

Anyone want the URLs?

reply

O_O Is it the restored version?!

reply

I don't know. He didn't say. But apparently its a good quality tv rip!

reply

*fistpumps vigorously* If it's a tv rip, it has to be the restored version! Wait, that is, unless TCM isn't the only broadcaster, or they stopped using their restored version...I must DL so I can see for myself! XD

T_T thanks so much, but my laggy internet will take forever to download all those parts. I'll work on it though, and we all def. have to keep it alive.

reply

It works, you don't need the second part 14 to assemble the files. It's the four hour version with German subtitles, recorded from arte, in good quality. I'm shutting down my mobile and my internet connection right now, lighting a candle and opening a bottle of red wine before putting the freshly burnt disc into my dvd-player. I've been waiting years for this... Thank you so much!

reply

No problem, i'm glad i found it too! I'm working my way through the book '1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die', and the short version is in there, but some of the films in there are impossible to find. This being one of them.

Last Film I Watched:
The Hills Have Eyes (1977 Version) = 7/10

reply

Thank you so much!!! I am so glad to finally see this film.

reply

Not the most legal way, but if anybody uses bittorrent there's a torrent up of the restored version. Just use a search engine like isohunt and search for "Greed stroheim". Just finished watching it after a several year search and I'm glad to finally have it under my belt.
