Is it BRONENOSETS POTEMKIN or POTYOMKIN?

In Russian the letter e is in most cases pronounced yeah, but sometimes it is pronounced yo. In books on the Russian language, when e is pronounced yo, they put an umlaut (two dots) over the e. The ship is named after the 18th century Russian statesman (and secret husband of Catherine the Great), Grigory Potemkin. In Russia it is pronounced Patyomkin. The stress is on the second syllable. If you are a filmgoer, you may have come across the composer Dmitri Tiomkin, which is almost the same surname.

I always spell the name Potyomkin, and pronounce it the Russian way.
