Terrible VHS quality!

Does anyone else who owns the VHS copy agree with me? It looks so washed out. It's too bright and then too dark. The light is too light and the white too white. The black and the dark are too pale. This makes me kind of ticked. I some how figured that if it was put on VHS, (way back in the 80's), the effort would have been made to restore it. I some how figured that the nice, relatively clear version I saw on TCM back in May would be on this tape. I was wrong.

I hope this is movie is restored and added to Warner Archive catalog soon.

Let's not hold our breath.

-But-

The Single Standard was released on DVD as part of the Warner Archive. This movie was part of the MGM Silent Classics line. That gives us hope that some of the others in this series may get put on DVD some day. Unfortunately, someone told me that most of the movies from the Warner Archive are unrestored and just slapped on to a dvdr or something. Sigh.

-Also-

I've been emailing some people I know who have this movie on VHS and accordion to them, the movie should not look the way mine does. I've seen screen caps of theirs and they look clear compared to mine. I'm beginning to think this is just MY video tape. If I buy another VHS copy and it looks much better, I'll let you know.
