DVD release?

A poster above commented about an upcoming DVD release for The Big Parade. I searched all over the internet for info about this and came up with nothing. Any information--who's releasing it, when, etc--would be most appreciated.

I'm not sure about an official release but I can burn a DVD-R of it if you like.

I read from dvdbeaver that this movie along with The Wind, The Crowd, and other silent classics will be released by Warner Home Video in DVD format.

I'm looking forward to it.

... and now, in 2011, still no dvd for this masterpiece !

One of the greatest silent movies ever, for me, and it's especially unfair to see how much this amazing cinema period is even more silent now...

I keep hope for The Big Parade, crossing fingers and toes !

Is there any news about a dvd release yet?

As You may know there still isn't a commercial DVD of Vidor's The Big Parade, but You once answered that You could burn one. Would it still be possible?

The Big Parade, Greed, Show People, The Wind, The Scarlet Letter are going to be released from Warner Bros. in late 2006 OR early 2007.

I am really looking forward to this release. The Wind, too. It is a great movie. I never have been a fan of "war" movies, but this is a wonderful movie and I can't wait to get my own copy!

The Big Parade AND Greed? That is GREAT news!

Any news about a DVD-release? I'd really like to get my hands in this movie!

Things aren't looking good, we really need to hear something positive around January 2009 about an upcoming release or else take it that there are no intentions of releasing the previously mentioned masterpieces...

Me too. I just finished looking at my DVR of it from TCM's showing in May of 2009. This film is a masterpiece. The utter horror and futility of WWI in particular and all wars in general is made clear by stunning visuals and subtle acting by John Gilbert. Yes, the pathos of his mother remembering him as a baby/toddler/little boy are a little over the top for today's world of irony but they do not ring false.

(wow, this is quite an old thread!) Just watched Warner's new Blu-Ray edition. Looks like the film was made yesterday! Exceptional restoration by the always reliable Kevin Brownlow and company. Yes, there are a few missing frames and the occasional scratch or two, but it's 88 years old! Compelling viewing even for 2 1/2 hours; if you like this movie you will love Warner's new edition of it.

I just saw a copy at the library I work at. I hope to see it as well. You are right about the restorations, wonderful work on the classics.
