Dont waste your time watching.

I'd disagree. Fundamentally. Just saw it, and was blown away by it, frankly. Fascinating stuff, and entertaining to boot.

Fool.

I'll bet you like Nickelback and the "Transformers" movies.

My animation teacher showed me some clips of this movie. My gosh, it is so creatively well done! I love the whole silhouette feel. I have to find a copy to see the whole thing now.

Hahahahahahaha!!! What an IGNORANT comment! Let me guess: You are AMERICAN, and your idea of a good film is "Harry & Kumar Escape from Guantanomo Bay?" Hahahahaha!!! The internet is riddled with idiots that are so good for a laugh... "She's cheatin'" LMFAO!!!

reply

The majority of the time somebody posts a comment like "Let me guess: You are AMERICAN," it turns out they're not. I looked at the original poster's comment history, and I noticed he said he was from China on a United 93 thread.

The Internet would be a better place if we would jettison these unfounded xenophobic prejudices.

ewwwwww ,you stalked me and read all my posts, you perv :(

Sorry this movie didn't appeal to you, but I seriously hope no potential viewers are swayed away from seeing it, as it is truly marvelous, and has brought so much enjoyment to everyone I know who has seen it. I would make no assumptions about your nationality based on an opinion of a movie--that's a silly, counter-productive game. Remember though that someone looking at your public history of comments is certainly not stalking at all. If you don't want people to read them, then don't post them. Simple.

He was trying to defend you you *beep* And if you don't want people to read your comments, don't post them you moron. All your facebook friends are probably stalkers too for reading your status updates, right?

This post is old, but Vulpix, you said exactly what I yearn to say every time I see a thread like this, only #1: I usually dont care to get involved just for the sake of it, and #2: I, myself am American and actually despise the US so I dont want to appear bias. the truth is: there is ignorance everywhere. I will say, most of it in the civilized world, *is* in the US, but I myself would never assume that because someone shows how much of an ignoramus they are by not appreciating the world's first animated film, that they are from the US. Theyre an idiot because theyre an idiot -- not because of where they are from.

I also wrote because I see that The Fall ranks high on your list and that is absolutely amazing. Although, I personally refuse to refer to it as a 2006 film. It took two years (and a total of 4 of me waiting) for it to come out in theatres even on a limited basis so its ingrained in my brain as 2008

Ah, if only you could thumbs up comments on IMDb, I would thumb this one up.

Whatever country you are from, there is something bad that can be said about it.

America? Slavery or George W. Bush
China? Tienanmen Square or Internet censorship
Germany? {ahem}
Italy? see above
Japan? the phrase "comfort women" comes to mind
And any other country you care to name.

And of course, then the xenophobic idiocy gets thrown at the wrong country, and we all laugh at you. Americans and barbarians alike.
just kidding

To get back on topic: I liked this film. A lot. I'm going to keep an eye open for more of her work.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

American here, loved this movie. Try judging people on their individual merits rather than falling back on xenophobic bullsh!t.

Let me ask you; Where did somebody like you even FIND this film? I don't think they sell it at 'Walmart...' LOL!!!!!

reply

How is this movie considered a waste of time?

I found it to be enlightening, it honestly redefined my definition of what an animated film could be. This movie is more "watchable" than anything Disney has ever put out, and without the aid of sound. I feel like the way it works together is beautiful, seamless, and perfect for the storyline. Really, it takes the Arabian Knights tales and puts them on an unreal, ethereal plane, which in turn makes them more mythical. Not to mention, it's a feat of filmmaking for its time period and wholly influential to stop motion animation.

It's beautiful, astounding to me. I love it... but hey, that's just, like, my opinion man. I hope you enjoyed Monsters Vs. Aliens.

reply

For the record, I'm American, and I really enjoyed this. Meanwhile Monsters vs Aliens is in my top ten animated movies.

reply

This is a waste of time in the same way that enjoying any film is a waste of time.

But what a way to waste it! The beauty of this film is enormous. I've had people walking into the room while this film was on, glance at it for less than ten seconds and remark upon how beautiful it is. I rented it and immediately after watching I bought a copy. I'm going to show it to my grandchildren.

The story is well paced; the magic of characters is unmistakable. I was ready to be bored when I first put this in the machine. I was captivated.
