That's a harsh judgment in my estimation. I'm 57, halfway to 58, with friends varying from their 20s to nearly 60. WE ALL LOVE THIS FILM! Not one person who has seen it hasn't fallen in love with it and been determined to see it again and again. Before we had computers (some still don't), we actually would call whoever wanted to see "Prince Achmed", alerting them to when it was shown on TCM. Finally, I had the sense to have a videotape ready. I still tune in when it's shown, even though I have a copy. It's absolutely intoxicating viewing; For the time that it is on, my eyes are on the TV screen, not my laptop's, and that's a rarity.
At Yahoo!Answers, I frequently list this on suggestion lists. Also, I used it to correct the misconception about Disney being first with a feature-length animated film. Someone argued about it but admitted to not having seen this amazingly beautiful, entertaining film.
When I attend reenactment events, I often see artists doing silhouettes and the style of cutouts used in this film. Generally, when I mention the movie, they either have seen it and are enthusiastic about it or ask me for more information.
