Good movie, makeup

I liked this movie, and it stands up well 85 years later. One thing I noticed was the excellent makeup job done on the hero during the fight scene towards the end. He really looked like he had been in a fight. So often we see men supposedly punch each other in the face repeatedly, and then have nary a mark to show for it!

Yes, I saw it on TCM--definately my most watched movie channel. Some of these silent films are available on Netflix. I saw Ace of Hearts with Lon Cheney on DVD, only to see it listed on TCM about two weeks later. Now I check their schedule better--they will email it to you once a month.

Yeah: I've noted the same thing each time I've watched this gem. The hero really does look like he's been thoroughly worked over. Even his hair looks (quite unflatteringly) like it's been through a whirlwind.
