I like this far better than The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Infinitely more engrossing and compelling, in my opinion. In fact, I pretty near love this movie, and plan to purchase a copy of the Kino DVD release.
shareTotally agree, this is superior to Caligary. Caligary is, to me, mainly interesting for the sets, and they don't manage to carry the film. Orlac - going by the Kino version, perhaps very much augmented by the score - is a powerful and memorable film.
Time for a new signature, perhaps. Hmmmm...
