He Who Gets Slapped movie quotes?

Hello, I just experienced the Thurs. August 25th 3:30 am viewing and I've been searching for movie quotes over the internet. IMDB doesn't even have any listed! I was hoping that there might be a site where I could get them from? Or someplace/someone. More than a handful touched my heart, especially "Come friend-you can have the last slap" I doubt that is the exact quote. Due to my awful memory I cannot remember them for the life of me. I'd be very greatful if someone could point me in the right direction. Thank you.

you can see the whole script at http://www.geocities.com/emruf5/HE.html.

He was talking to the escaped lion, wasn't he, when he said that about having the 'last slap'. I saw this film in '72 or '73 and always remembered that line. I'd sure like to have a nice print DVD of this.

Here's a famous one:

"I don't like barons."

I might've misquoted him, but oh well.

Thank you!

The agony of that
night exhausted
Paul Beaumont's power
to suffer. For there is a
limit to what men can
suffer - and live.

reply

what is it in human nature that makes people quick to laugh when someone else gets slapped - whether the slap be spiritual, mental - or physical?

A strange thing, the heart of man - that loves, suffers and despairs - yet has the courage to hope, believe - and love - again!!!

THOSE ARE SOME COOL QUOTES FROM THIS MOVIE

What is Death? What is Life? What is Love?

-I just read the play the other night, and it's VERY different from the movie. There are more characters, and HE kills Consuelo at the end.

"Everything I know, I learned from Vaudeville." -James Cagney

reply

Hmmm interesting... where did you find the play? Is it online anywhere?

Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'

Yeah the quotes are so inspiring in this movie.
I am also trying to remember one that said something about, "if this is what dream are like, i would like to sleep forever" or somehting like that, i dont remember. Does anyone remember this one? or any other.

"In the grim comedy of life, it has been wisely said that the last laugh is the best."

Truer words were never spoken.

reply

Not a quote but a memorable scene for me is when Consuelo literally and figuratively mends HE's broken heart.
