Aelita as Metropolis missing link

This film has unusual and rich paralells to METROPOLIS-- however it seems almost inspirational to that overblown and hyped art-deco clunker-- any thoughts?

"Unusual and rich paralells"? I wouldn't go that far... There are similarities to be found in the plot, but the message of the two films is completely different. The concept of Metropolis existed as early as the end of 1923, while Aelita was first shown only on September 1924. All in all both movies have plot ideas taken from 19th century literature, none of the movies is more original then the other. It's not a question of which came first, it's the final result that is to be judged.

With that said, I disagree with your opinion of Metropolis. I think it is much better then Aelita. But, both of us know, it's just a matter of taste...

It also depends on which Metropolis the opinion. The original European release or the severely edited and hacked up American release. Much of the story is lost in the later.

Aelita was amazing. I just wish Aelita herself did not have a Unibrow.
it was really distracting and got annoying. Other than that bit of nit picking I dont have any other problems with Aelita... Perhaps the Box head martian design should have been toned up. Aelita is Tip top aside from all of that

Metropolis was much more well refined.

I only wish there were more futuristic films like these from way back in the silent era.

Things To Come is worth mention.

What a bunch of nonsensical hooey. I can see why the USSR lasted only 74 years. Give me a good old Bruce Willis blow-'em-up anytime.

The name of another Russian sci-fi flick from 1935 that was silent and it had a famous scientist as a consultant? Three people went up into space and landed on the moon, an old man, young lady and a boy. What was the name of that picture, anyone know?

I don't know if you're a full grown man, but if you are, and I'd be Bruce Willis, I could change ocupation. What a silly point of view that of yours, really.
