charlie's letter


does anyone know where i could find the letter charlie wrote to the public that was given out before seeing 'a woman of paris'? i heard some of it on a documentary, but i am curious to read the rest. thanks! shan

I cant find it, but it says that he himself does not appear in it and its nota comedy. Just a warning for the audience.

Hi, in much belated response to your question, you can find the full text of the letter prefacing the NY première of A Woman of Paris in Chaplin: His Life and Art by David Robinson, the universally-acknowledged definitive biography on Chaplin.
The book was first published in 1985, then reprinted and updated twice, in 1992 and 2001.
In the 2001 edition, you can find the letter on page 337, in the middle of the chapter entitled A Woman of Paris. Good luck!
