Who did the score?

what is the name of the score that is in the film?

reply

If you are refering to the VHS release, there is no "name" to the score itself...it was done by the late Gaylord Carter who scored a number of silent film video releases on the great Wurlitzer organ....

The new DVD includes the excellent Gaylord Carter score. Carter was an accompanist during the silent era and was a great guy, always willing to answer fans' letters and questions (including mine). Sadly, he passed away in 2000. His scores are authentic, as they would have been what he played during the original 1920s releases, and the tapes made of his performances are real treasures to include on silent film releases. His TEN COMMANDMENTS score sounds great on the new DVD.

I agree. I wish more of the silent films with his scores were released on DVD.

The beautiful "hymn" like music playing softly at the conclusion when a contrite Leatrice Joy returns to Richard Dix makes you want to reach for the kleenex.
