Underrated Chaney Masterpiece

I found this DVD a while back and was surprised to, having never heard about it before. I didn't expect too much because no one raved about it like Phantom and Hunchback, but when I watched it I was pretty impressed to say the least! Great storyline, acting, everything. Chaney doesn't change his face in this one, but it's still great. I can't believe how underrated it is.

Let's also don't forget that it has a fairly respectable earthquake sequence for the time it was made.

Yes, this was thoroughly enjoyable. Like the OP said, it had a great story, and great acting. Chaney was one of the best. This is highly recommended to anybody interested in finding out what Lon Chaney Sr. was all about.

Just okay for me, really. I gave it a 7/10, and almost gave it a lower score. There are other lesser-known Chaney films that I think are masterpieces instead, like The Ace of Hearts and The Penalty.

Ace of Hearts and The Penalty are definite must sees for Chaney fans, along with

The Unholy Three(both versions)
The Unknown
He Who Gets Slapped
Outside The Law
The Wicked Darling
Victory
Laugh, Clown, Laugh
West of Zanzibar

Chaney was the best, and his films are still absolutely enjoyable
