My least favorite short
Just watched this at a silent film festival last nite - does anyone really like the gags in this?

There are moment I particularly love:
1. Buster wading into the river, then emptying his wading boots by standing on his head.
2. The leaning-on-each-other moment, when he's being taken aback by the bear but she thinks he's flirting. I especially like the way his hat gets knocked just a tad askew and he straightens it as he looks up at her.
3. Buster standing up, showing us that he's not actually sitting in the canoe but rather wearing it like a tutu.
4. Realizing he's shot a bear only after he sits down on it.
I loved the whole "damsel in distress" sequence. She has to wrestle the bull as Buster, having failed to keep his powder dry, is of no help. Seeing this, he is all like, "Whoa, better not mess with this chick" and beats a retreat as she makes menacing gestures towards him. Then, after she sees him take care of the bears, he struts around like a hero and she accepts him. As they sail away, the surviving bear appears. He makes as if to pull out a weapon, but takes out a ukelele and plays for her as they float down the river--be still my heart! What happens after that at the ending is also great.
