Madge Bellamy

She was quite pretty. I had never heard of her before.

Yes....am right there with you, and thought she did a great job in this movie.

From her credit list it looks like she was 'a victim of the talkies'....but her bio doesn't agree....

I will always look for her again....

Get her autobiography Darling Of The Twenties. I checked it out at the library having never heard of Madge before. It is a fascinating rags to riches to rags story.

Thanks will look for that.... I did tape "The Iron Horse" with Madge Bellamy, the other month as TCM was playing it, (I didn't realize she was it it, exactly) but every time I sit down to watch it, (as it seems to start a little on the slow side) I decide I am not in the mood for it....

....Now that I realize she is in it, I'll watch it at last....

Well glancing at her bio here....it would seem her life story might make a great movie, ups and downs....just like Lorna here...."Sunset Blvd Part II"....

Anyway....was curious about what became of "A. Stanford Murphy"....so its less like Sunset Blvd than my first impression (I would include 'Spoilers!!!!', but you already have the book....)

Madge is the female lead in the "B" cult horror picture WHITE ZOMBIE (1932) which should be very easy to find, it's often at dollar stores for a buck.

And it's available online. I may have to watch White Zombie again myself. I didn't realize while watching this movie that I had seen Bellamy before.
