What's with the body in the sewer?

Near the ending we see the count climbing into a room and a guy simultaneously waking up. In a next shot we see that same guy walking away with the dead body of a woman. I missed what happened there. Who was that dead woman? Were the tales of the Count and his misdoings only fictional and part of the book that the husband and wife were reading? Or did I miss something of the plot?

It's not the dead body of a woman, but the count himself, killed by the man you see waking up. You can see his uniform, and right before he gets tossed down the manhole, you can also see his face.

Thanks. I don't know how I could miss out on that one.

I had the same thing... I just watched the 143 minute version and was really bummed out with the lousy editing that cuts out an attempted rape and a murder. I thought the movie was SO boring, that end-scene would've at least added some action.

Yeah I was disappointed it never showed the killing of the count. Maybe its in the 6 hour version.
