This or Wild Strawberries?

I'm a student at University College Cork (UCC), in my final year. One of the modules I chose for my first semester was European Cinema. For the first half of the first semester (lol what?), we did German Expressionism, for the second we did Scaninavian Cinema. The best out of the German Expressionism for me was Nosferatu, while for the Scandinavian side, I really enjoyed Wild Strawberries. I found it interestin how much The Phantom Carraige influenced Bergman in his film career, particularly with Wild Strawberries, right down to casting Sjostrom as Dr Borg! I found Kokarlen to be alright, it had a good atmosphere and great effects that actually hold up pretty well, but I have a weakness for the grumpy curmudgeon with the heart of gold, so I prefer Strawberries. What about you guys?

I fell in love with him the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.

For me, Korkarlen definitely. Despite some moralistic undertones of the Finale (IMO), this movie posesses, in a paradoxal way, the supreme truthfulness, it is very intense and vivid. Wild Strawberries, with all its merits, contains (IMO) some problematic "in your face" episodes, especially the nightmare as an opening scene.
