The Remake?

I was looking at the movie connections section for this film, and saw that this movie was remade as "Big Daddy." Yes, "Big Daddy" starring Adam Sandler.

Has anyone who worked on "Big Daddy" (director, writer, actors, etc.) stated this?

Although the basic plots of the movies are the same, the stories are quite different. I can somewhat see it being a remake, but not an intentional one. I think if Sandler did remake this movie, he didn't know he was doing it.

Gosh, was that what that was? If it was supposed to be a remake, it sucked. I watched that movie a while back just thinking it was a cute movie that wasted time.

It certainly was not a full blown remake, but it could have been inspired by this movie.

Well, he also remade Mr Deeds Goes To Town. Perhaps it's a hobby of his.

I think that calling Big Daddy a remake of The Kid is an incredibal stretch.

It was remade, IIRC, in 1980 with Jon Voight and Ricky Schroeder, wasn't it? :-)

I watched that Adam Sandler movie when it came out. And though I can see superficial similarities (a comedy about an adult caring for a child), I didn't consider it a remake. Nor do I remember seeing anything that suggested that it was.
