what happens
i havent seen this for years and was wondering what happens at the end. Does the kid stay with charlie or does he get taken away.

A post over 2 years old I would think you'd probably given up on an answer, but seeing as how it's still here I suppose there's always a chance that you're still waiting...boy that would be a long wait...but here's how it ends.
Charlie and the kid meet up with the kid's mother, and she loves the boy, is sorry she got rid of him to begin with, and he and Charlie go to live with her in her fancy home...and they live happily ever after, the end.
That's debatable.

If you've seen the original version, you know the mother and the Kid's father have started seeing each other again. There is, in fact, no indication that the woman has any feelings for the tramp beyond her gratitude.

That's what I thought the first time i saw this wonderful film. Or maybe she gives him a job in her house, but marry him? Maybe months or years later, but that sounds far fetched to me. As christcrucified said, There’s no indication that the woman has any feelings for the tramp beyond her gratitude.
