Had black comedy been done before?
I'm a big fan of black comedy, and I was thoroughly surprised to see it so well done in this film. I seem to remember some of Buster's other films having a few dark comedy jokes, but never to this extent. I'm sure that there were probably lots of other films and vaudeville or music hall shows that did black comedy before this, but I'm just wondering how innovative was this film in that regard? I imagine people must have been shocked.
