Erotikon - A comedy in 5 acts or boredom with out 5 acts?

I have to say that I was hugely disappointed with Stiller's "Erotikon" (1920). It says in the beginning that it is a comedy in 5 acts. I did not laugh once. And where are the acts? Maybe the joke is that there are none? Why Svensk Filmindustri decided to restore this film is beyond me. OK it may be historically important but that's the only thing it has going for it (IMO).

And if it is supposed to be a comedy, why did Kino then score it with funeral music? Was that maybe the whole comedy?

I've seen it recently at a silent movie festival and I was really disappointed too. Maybe the subtle humor of the 1920's just escapes my senses; on the other hand there ARE american or british comedies of that time make me laugh hard.

So maybe it's just the subtle swedish humor of the 1920's that escapes my senses.

If so, then thank God the Swedish humor has changed through the years ;-)
