Effective and creepy

I turned this on late, so I'm not sure who the other character is, but there's a shot of Barrymore transforming into Mr. Hyde, he's standing up in front of some other gentleman. I think this was creepy and it equals and perhaps was the idea for the Nosferatu characterization of Max Schreck in the German Dracula film.

I especially felt the close up shots of Barrymore when he was Mr Hyde, the facial expressions with the eyes and the repulsive smile he gave towards the camera conveyed the terror in his character.

John Barrymore was very effective using his own facial expressions and contortions during the transformation. He is my favorite actor to play this character.

I thought the film was very entertaining and creepy as well. The makeup still looks great and totally convincing. A lot of monster makeup in films today don't look as convincing as John Barrymore did in this movie.
