2010 Alpha DVD

For anyone who may care...

Just finished watching the Alpha budget version of this film. It was actually pretty good (for Alpha standards). Musical score matches the action on screen pretty well and isn't at all like their usual cobbled together orchestral scores running on a loop that could put a hyper-active child to sleep in 5 minutes. Image is contrasty but not TOO bad. Transfer is kind of fast but not annoyingly so. They even include intertitles that they seemingly designed themselves, or someone did, for when the original one is unreadable, although this only somewhat makes up for the many intertitles cut off on the bottom or sides or both.

Over-all this is actually pretty good considering I paid 3.99 for it. Also, it's an absolutely fantastic film! Just hilarious.

Yes. My version from the same proprietor came in Region 1 Import, and I'm most eager to put it on and watch it unfold. I, like you, came to the board and I just feel forlorn at the lack of traffic and discussions that usually transpire on IMDB. My reason for purchasing the film was (spoilers) I seen a prestidigitation whereby Douglas Fairbanks eats a midnight snack, and he has a terrible effect of it... and THEN an eventuality ensues where his own SNACK chases after him subsequently, and he goes through walls and jumps up and down. It's almost like a vaudevillian production, only with convincing special effects that were all organic (the only one that looks faux is the addition of people dressed up)

But hey, I'm excited to watch it as I ordered it 3 weeks ago and because it's an American copy, it's resulted in it being a slow delivery. The man, Dr Metz seems like the archetypal madman!

And yes, I also got this for a good fee, purchasing it at £8.99 from one of the other sellers on Amazon. The DVD is highly recommended and thus far I'm not too sure about the film yet...

But thank you for your brief review of the DVD with regard to the Score, Transfer and Intertitles. It's appreciated.
