D.W. Griffith 'Scarlet Days' now on dvdr from Grapevine Video

"Scarlet Days", the 1919 western directed by D.W. Griffith, is out on dvdr for the first time by Grapevine Video. This film was a success in it's day but was believed to be lost for many years, and remains one of the most obscure of Griffith's features. Reviews are all over the map; some sources say it's the great director's worst film, while others say it's one of his best. In my opinion, "Scarlet Days" is better than any other western from that period and, while not a Griffith masterpiece, it's not his worst either. The print Grapevine has is quite good and is tinted; I didn't have any issue with the quality, especially for what is certainly one of Griffith's forgotten films. You can get it here (I don't have any connection to the company, I just appreciate silent rarities):
