In 1998, the American Film Institute called this one of the best 400 U.S. films ever made. It deserves to be seen.

According to the Mary Pickford website (marypickford.com) , it was supposed to be released in 2005. I wonder what happened.

This is available on a collection DVD of Mary Pickford's films along with Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Pollyanna and little Annie Rooney.

What's the quality like on it?

reply

It was a while ago that I watched it but I don't remember any major problems, the quality wasn't perfect due to the age but it was perfectly watchable.

A 3-disc DVD set from Milestone Video will be "coming soon" (no release date yet), and it will contain 3 Pickford films: Poor Little Rich Girl, The Hoodlum, and Sparrows. These will be from the latest restoration prints, as shown on TCM recently. Go to http://www.milestonefilms.com/, click "new PDF Video Catalogue", and see Page 15 for the official announcement.

Of course, we can always see the unrestored public domain copy of "Poor Little Rich Girl" here: http://www.archive.org/details/ThePoorLittleRichGirl

The Milestone dvd set is scheduled for release in November but according to the Nitrateville.com website, you can purchase it now if you are a member of that website.
