Who are the two guys talking in between parts 1 and 2??

I just watched this on Netflix. Between parts 1 and 2 there were two gentlemen were conversing and reading (out loud!) some quotes from Woodrow Wilson. This little scene was clearly not from the same era as the rest of the film (it had sound, for one) and looked like it might have been added in the 30s or 40s. Anyone have an idea?

It could be director DW Griffith and actor Walter Huston. There was a brief interview filmed in 1930 to accompany the release of Abraham Lincoln, Griffith's first sound movie. Walter Huston played the title role. Griffith reminisced about his childhood in the South and said that the KKK was "needed" during the Reconstruction (I know, don't get me started on that). They were sitting in front of a fireplace. I didn't see BOAN on Netflix (I saw it on Youtube, so it doesn't include that scene), but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Ahh interesting. Thanks. And yes it was in front of a fireplace. It was totally bizarre...

Hi SpaceBasketCase,

It is Griffith and Walter Houston. It's probably for the Lincoln talkie but Birth of a Nation was re-released again around the time of Gone with the Wind.
