I recently came to a conclusion on which was the more racist out of these two and Birth of a Nation is by a landslide. At least Django is a free black man who gets revenge on the evil slave masters. Birth of a Nation is a flat out racist movie, with racist propaganda, and a message that no viewer and audience should believe.

Any movie that ends with woo-hoo! KKK to the rescue!! Is going to come off racist lol. Griffith and Gish were full on in-denial racists full stop.

shareI know this probably sounds horrible but personally I like Birth better. Django was great, but Birth is just more unique, and I it was more haunting in a way. Django is the more moralistic movie for sure, but Birth is just more epic in scope and more haunting to me, even though it's material is misguided.

shareBoth movies are idiotic, but I prefer Birth of A Nation. Griffith may have had his prejudices, but visually he's a much more interesting filmmaker than Tarantino, and Birth of A Nation gets a much stronger response out of me.
Django is only a slightly less-offensive movie. It also happens to be duller.
Django Unchained is far more overtly racist than Birth of a nation. The white characters are all represented as evil, depraved or dumb, with the exception of one - who happens to be a foreigner. The blacks are all noble and oppressed. The last part of the film features a killing frenzy, murdering as many whites as possible, as if they are vermin. There is nothing like this in Birth of a Nation.
