Spike Lee hates this movie

I can remember back in the 1980's, when Spike started out directing, he made a film called The Answer in response to this film. I can see where he is coming from. This is the most racist movie of the 19th century.

It's probably the most racist movie ever!

reply

I agree. In fact, it is the most racist film ever made in my opinion. Stepin Fetchit, Mantan Moreland, etc people like that doesn't really bother me. This movie takes the icing off the cake. It is disgrace how racist minded people were back in the 19th century.

Do you know any black racists? What percentage of black people do you know like white people? Just curious.

reply

This movie was released in 1915. That's the 20th Century. We are currently in the 21st century.

reply

yes dahoo i agree with you. look at pam grier movies in 1970s in all of her movies she fights with a bad white gangs . this not a racial movei ? but if a movie shows good white fight with bad blacks this is called racial one.

reply

Spike Lee hates white people big time. He plays the race card entirely too much. Anything, anytime, anyplace and for any reason. If he doesnt get enough salt on his red skin potatoes then he gets mighty pissed. If there's too much pepper, though, then it's fine cuz that's how pepper rolls.

He's way too paranoid about the racial relations. Yes, people are racist. It's stupid, I agree, but it's a fact of life and you cannot convert the masses.

reply

^ I agree
He actually fans the flames of racism and its tensions because he always has to bring everyone's attention to it.

"Eva Longoria must be a lesbian cause she married a woman."

reply

The movie is racist by today's standards, but back in 1915, it wasn't like blacks and whites were "equal."

Albeit the movie's topic, it was important to shape cinema today. Without it, movies wouldn't be like they are today: more than 15 minutes long.

The winner is Todd!

I can't blame him. I rented this movie after learning in my film studies course that it was an "early masterpiece of cinema" without knowing a single thing about it's content. My jaw hung nearly hit the floor as I proceeded to watch it.

reply

Eh Spike Lee can be funny though, he's had a Q&A at my college and minus the strange racism(which actually didn't really bring up) he was great to talk to.

Still I agree that he takes it too far. This is such a difficult film, because it is very well made in terms of starting off cinema, but it's so racist that it detracts from its marvels.

reply

Well its quite possibly the most racist movie ever made.

Have you ever came across someone you shouldn't have f-cked with thats me (Gran Torino)

First of all, this movie was made in the 20th century. Not the 19th century.

Second, DW Griffith made his OWN response to his OWN movie. He didn't need an idiot like Spike Lee to do so.

I'm running this monkey farm now and I wanna know what the *beep* you're doing with my time!
