Why is there no remake?

This is a "lost" movie, but we have clips and a script. Why doesn't someone remake this, possibly incorporating the existing footage? It couldn't cost all that much to do, not it it was done using 1915 technology, etc. Probably any film student could do it.

So, Aspiring Film Maker, if you're reading this, the challenge is out. Remake "Der Golem" (1915). 'Kay?

Actually, I'm organizing just such a remake now. Even purchased an old hand-cranked 35mm camera for effect. 8)

Update, still working on this. Had some personal issues come up, but they are resolved.

There's an amazing version of "The Golem" being made currently by Jiri Barta. It's a really bizarre and astonishing combination of live action and claymation - you can see a few clips by going to the following website and downloading the files (on the left side of the page, scroll down until you see it):

It's just really amazing to watch, but unfortunately the funding situation at the moment is rather critical from what I've heard, so it may not get finished.

There was also a Hammer Films version (starring Roddy McDowell) last century sometime.

The 1920 Golem is actually a prequel about "how he came into the world".
