There's No 'A' in the Title

This film was released in 1913 under the title "Barney Oldfield's Race for Life." The "a" was added recently in restored prints and is gospel now, I guess.

No, the title as listed on IMDb is correct. I've seen it listed without the "a" sometime, but that was an abbreviation or mistake on the part of the publication.

Keystone advertised it with the full title "Barney Oldfield's Race for a Life", and it was listed that way in Moving Picture World's 1913 release date charts. See Moving Picture World May 31, 1913 pgs. 880 & 968; June 7, 1913 pg 1076; and June 14, 1913 pg 192.
