Anyone know about copyright on this movie?

..if one were to use scenes from this, is it because of age, public domain, or can I contact someone ?

reply

Definitely public domain. I believe this was released before any real copyright protection laws were in place, if they were this film's would have expired due to lack of renewal or the fact that the "author" (director) of the film died over 70 years ago (which I think is the rule).

Just out of curiosity, what are you planning on using this film for?

Im in the proccess of making an concept music album, based on the Dantes Inferno idea, and was wonder if I could use clips from the movie in a music video. :)

Sounds awesome, best of luck and let me know when it's finished!

Will do, thank you. :)

It's my understanding that any printed work entered public domain if it was published before 1923 (even those, like "Inferno" here, published first in another country). So you're GOLDEN. :D

I too would be interested in hearing your concept album. I'm huge on Pink Floyd, etc.

Perfect. - It's more into a darker realm of underground electronic music though. But i'll keep posted. :)
